The Great Outdoors - Jo West

This week's theme is "the great outdoors" ... I sat for ages wondering which one of the thousands of pictures I should use of my daughter outdoors ... and then I thought that maybe a different take was required. Scrapping the Great Outdoors doesn't always have to be a kid focused page ... you can scrap landscapes, seascapes, heck even cityscapes ... the list is endless as long as it involves the outdoors! I chose to scrap a picture of a dear friend ... on this somewhat cold and but sunny late winter/early spring day we grabbed our cameras and met at a local park .... hoping to get some great beach or seaside shots ... we did ... but we also got some great shots of each other ... we decided the day called for acting totally goofy, which is pretty easy to do when you have almost the whole park to yourself! So here it is, my friend, being totally goofy & fun! I used light coloured papers because the photo is so dark ... and because when looking at the photo, the eye gravitates towards the area of the photo that is light, i used heavy embellishments to draw the eye down the photo so you could actually see the subject of the photo. I added bling ... those little strips of pearls by Kaisercraft ... and made some of my own by hand cutting daisies, adding glossy accents and sprinkling on Martha's tinsel glitter. I just have to have something blingy and shiny on every page ... i just feel that it helps move the eye around the page. I finally got this page scrapped, which thrills me, and I can't wait for my friend to see it ... we had a great morning ... ending with a 2 person tailgate party eating sandwiches and juice ... so i want to make this suggestion ... instead of doing the same old "lets meet for coffee" ... grab your camera, grab your friend and meet up at a park and shoot, act goofy and laugh. It's a great way to free your inner child and leaves with great memories, and something different to put in the scrapbook. As always, have fun out there ... and no running with scissors!

  1. Such a fun idea! I was thinking about taking my camera to work and going for a walk at lunch and just see what I see. I love the worn stitched look of the title! Great page!
